Fish Naming Contest 2022

Now through November 23rd!

Help us name our new koi fish! CCGC Students have compiled a list of names, and we're asking our community for help to choose the best one for each fish.

We're asking just a $1 donation per vote, so the more dollars you donate, the more votes you get for your name of choice! See our fish and name choices below, and cast your votes by clicking the links for each fish. 

All donations received during this fundraiser will be used to take care of the fish and our greenhouse over this winter and into next spring. Thank you to all of our donors who have continued to make this program possible!

 

About CCGC's Koi Pond

This year, thanks to the support of our donors, CCGC was lucky enough to be able to finally bring our greenhouse pond to life with plants, new filtration and pumps, and most importantly, koi fish! This has been a dream since the Grow Ahead Program first became an idea back in 2019, and all along the goal has been to have the pond and fish serve as both an educational element and an opportunity for children to connect with live animals in a therapeutic and supportive environment. Since we purchased our first two koi, Steve and Friend, back in June, we have seen amazing and heartwarming reactions to the fish every time our young students and clients interact with them. Now, as we welcome our three newest pond residents, we want to include everyone in the joy that is getting to know the fishes, and we hope that you will be a part of not just our naming contest, but our whole journey as we continue to build this new program and learn about these awesome creatures alongside our CCGC kids.

Meet the new fish!

FISH ONE

Meet Fish 1! He is our second smallest fish (after Friend, one of our first two fish purchased over the summer) and he is very energetic and spirited! He has a big attitude and hangs out with everyone pretty equally in the pond. He is white and dark orange with some black freckles.

This is Fish 2! She may be the only female in our fish pond right now, and she is a little more laid back than some of our other residents. She likes to hang out around the lily pads and watch what the others do before joining in for a meal or checking out something new in the pond. Fish 2 is a shimmering golden color that has actually gotten darker since she came to live in our pond, and she has some black details as well.

And this guy is Fish 3! He is probably the fastest fish in the pond and he is very bold about checking out new things in his neighborhood (like the pond vacuum, new plants, anything! Whether it is a good idea or not!). He is bright and shiny silver and from above his color makes some wild patterns on the top of his head. Like Fish 2, he is a butterfly koi.

We are grateful for your donation and support of our organization. If you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to our organization please contact us. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card.
